  1. Another good reason for this is that it’s a very mature title on what is commonly considered a platform for kids. I like this choice Nintendo has made. Bodes well for other Mature titles.

$200+ is a lot to be spending on one game.

    • If you’re only buying it for one game, then yeah, I would totally agree with you. Most of us are buying several other games.

In the video it insinuates that fans are stupid for getting upset over the exclusivity of the second game purely because ninty helped publish the game, yet fails to acknowledge out that you would still have to purchase a console– which is a significant investment to make considering the lack of exclusives on the platform and the fact we seem to be moving into a new console cycle.
Obviously i agree that the blame for this should be heaped at the pub’s door rather than the dev since attempting to tempt a popular multi-plat series to become exclusives should be a fucking hangable offence for obvious reasons.

        • If you honestly believe it’s an offense worthy of being hanged you got series issues.

If you don’t want the wii-u or can’t afford it, then cut your losses and play the games you do enjoy and can get your hands on.

No one is being forced to purchase the game. If you will own a WiiU anytime in the future, and feel like giving it a shot, go pick it up.

The fact of the matter is that you now have the option to own it, where as if Nintendo had not asked Ninja Theory to develop the game for their console with their funding, there wouldn’t be a Bayonetta 2 to pay any amount of money for.

Having the option to buy something expensive is always better than never having another opportunity to continue a series you enjoy.

I don’t buy that there wouldn’t have been bayonetta 2 if ninty didn’t back it since there is no possible way that anyone could know that it wouldn’t have been picked up as a multi-plat later on for the next-gen consoles. I think nintendo have seriously miscalculated on this one because all it’s going to do is breed resentment among the fans who aren’t planning on (and probably due to this been turned off) getting a wii-u. they would have probably done much better to have actually announced a new “mature” IP rather than pilfer one that really has no connection with their brand at all.

The wider point i’m trying to make here is that established multi-plats, more specifically those sequels of successful multi-plats, should aim to remain so and failing that should look to being pub’d in such a way that can exposes it to the greatest number of it’s fans possible, rather than expecting the fans to slavishly follow it.

          • For some reason it’s not letting me reply to Hippdome’s reply to Lamer Gamer, but to Hippdome:

I don’t get the impression that Nintendo’s just expecting current fans to follow it to a new console, it seems that Nintendo is trying to expand its audience by exposing it to more people that were unaware of the game before. Wouldn’t you want the series to become successful enough that even more games can be made? If you only expose it to “it’s [current] fans,” it might not be enough to continue the series. If making this more successful than it is now comes at the price of excluding some current fans, then so be it. Actual fans have better things to complain about than this.

Also, I don’t see how Nintendo has “pilfered” the franchise when no one else seems to want to publish it (to the extent of my knowledge, at least). It’s not stealing if no one wants it.

While I don’t give a hoot about Bayonetta, I disagree with this.

I feel that the site shouldn’t be posting a video showing such contempt for this group of Bayonetta fans or getting on a high horse and telling people that they are wrong, regardless of personal opinions on the subject and indeed whether they are right or wrong.

There are shades of Colin Moriarty, Jim Sterling and others of their ilk here. I come to Gather Your Party to avoid their sort of games journalism that tries to tell people what to think, do and purchase. I suspect a lot of others do too.

  4. Why do people say Wii U is a platform for kids? Sure, Wii had a bad reputation, but Wii U is a completely new console, Gamecube wasn’t a console for kids, N64 wasn’t a console for kids, doesn’t mean that Wii U is going to be a console for kids. Just because this game is on the console means it’s not a console for kids and there are a lot of other “mature” games on that console already, like Assassin’s creed, Arkham City and some other games. So tired of douchebags raging over this because of their ignorant opinions.

  5. I don’t get why people are angry about this when the first game struggled to run on current gen systems, steady 60 fps in the sequel wouldn’t hurt.

  6. I believe I wrote about this so I wont repeat myself except that I disagree.

Oops sorry I guess I shouldn’t be bummed out over the fact that a sequel to one of the games I’m a huge fan of is only coming to a console I have no incentive to buy otherwise. I should be getting on my hands and knees thanking Nintendo from the bottom of my heart for granting me this gift of exclusivity.

I think TheGamingBrit (Charlie) in a sense knows what he’s talking about but what I will add is that this would be just as bad as if the next zelda game was released on PlayStation, bayonetta fans arn’t very familiar with Nintendo just like many retro gamers arn’t familiar with Sony or Microsoft’s methods of consoles and game releases even though those companies didn’t make bayonetta. These “Angry fans” are used to playing those games on Sony and Microsoft’s consoles therefore they have a right to be angry; but I don’t their side entirely, I think the real message here is if there’s something that angers you, you shouldn’t bitch and moan allover message boards blaming someone (Nintendo) when they’re clearly the only reason the game would have existed.
