This week: This week Kyle, Marcus, Mike, and Amer discuss: THQ Auction, Nintendo Direct Announcements, Path of Exile Open Beta and Dust 514 Open Beta.
Would any of you guys recommend Path of Exile to someone who is not a fan of the genre?
If you hold a negative opinion of the genre I can’t imagine it would change your mind. If you hold a vague interest in the genre but previous entries didn’t thrill you, there is a chance you might like it. I recommend playing with a friend and playing on hardcore so you are legitimately afraid of death and focus on winning.
This episode felt like a Gentlemen Discussing Vidya episode, which is probably for the best since I felt that you guys needed a break from trying to be all serious all the time. I bet Kyle had a hard time dealing with the 20 minutes of nostalgia and 15 minutes of Dota2 discussion.
The informality of this was quite fun. I was somewhat committed to derailing the conversation though because Kyle hit me up to join in right after I had brushed my teeth and set my alarm.
You guys should relax more on weeks without many toics, anyways. It makes hearing about the death of franchises and companies more fun when we get the occasional comedic relief inbetween.
You’ve got the wrong idea, I love it when our podcasts are more lively and laid back like this, in fact I thought one of our best podcasts ever happened a two or three weeks ago because we were laughing our asses off. I could go on a nostalgia gush for a month straight if I wanted too, but that just makes me think it would be better writing material when you look at thing at length and in depth. As for DOTA2, I certainly don’t have anything to add to the discussion, but I’m never bored by it.

Also what’s that song
End Of Small Sanctuary – Silent Hill 3
What was the song this week?
See above you.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t Activision still own the Homeworld IP?
And Kyle if you’re going to platy Titan Quest, make sure you play Immortal Throne and get the community patch for it.
It will be 40 hours of fun.
Sierra was the publisher for the Homeworld games, which were made by Relic. Relic and the Homeworld IP were bought by THQ in 2004. Activision was never involved as far as I can see. I’ll take a look at Immortal Throne, does the patch work with the Steam version?
Immortal Throne fixes a lot of things that were never patched in TQ and you’re gonna want to play it after finishing the main game. Some weapon recipes require materials that are dropped in previous acts of the game, but they don’t drop if you’re playing vanilla TQ. And yeah, the community patch works with the Steam version.
The Homeworld IP was actually kept by Sierra until around 2008-2009 when some back-door deals were made and Relic/THQ regained the license. They have done nothing with it since then.
A similar story occurred with the Freespace IP, with Volition/THQ regaining the IP right before the release of Saints Row 2. The fact that they did nothing but release mediocre Red Faction games and the hit-or-miss Saints Row 3 right after that makes me more than a bit sad.
It’s really entertening and funny when you guys go off topic and start talking something else, funniest podcast by far.
We have pretty strict rules about only putting content about video games on the site, which includes the Podcast staying on the topic of video games. I guess I can see if I can get the OK to drift off topic a bit at times.
Off topic just means that we veered off of whatever the podcast topic was. We started talking about games with cut content in this podcast. Off topic, but still videogame related information. Not like arguing over Kitchen Fresh Chicken.
Kitchen Fag Chicken is for plebs Chick-Fil-A masterrace
I know this is a game site and the podcast should be about games but I enjoy when you start to get off topic and just speak about what you wish
Personally, I just like to declare that our website has become a video games & ________ site every time we go slightly off topic. Those are my favorite parts of the podcasts.
