Development studio 2K Marin, best known for Bioshock 2 and the recent XCOM prequel The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, has been confirmed by parent company 2K to have been hit by a number of staff reductions.
2K PR Manager Scott Pytlik confirmed the news to Gather Your Party when contacted, stating:
“We can confirm staff reductions at 2K Marin. While these were difficult decisions, we regularly evaluate our development efforts and have decided to reallocate creative resources. Our goal to create world-class video game titles remains unchanged.”
However, other sources reported by outlets such as Polygon, are adding that the studio may very well have closed for good, and that many former 2K Marin employees have even been offered positions at the new 2K Novato studio. 2K’s job listing website also lists no available positions at 2K Marin at the moment.
