In a move that surprised just about everyone, Capcom took to PAX East today to announce Ducktales Remastered, a complete remake of the classic NES game being developed by WayForward Technologies.
It will launch this summer for $14.99 on PlayStation Network, 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live Arcade and $15 on the Wii U eShop.
Character sprites have been redone as gorgeous hand-drawn art, while the world will be rendered in 3D. Disneys team of voice actors will be working on the game, and all of the game’s original 8 bit songs will be remastered. Newly added elements will include a tutorial, a museum and the ability to swim through Scrooge’s money bin.
“We’re literally pouring our heart and soul into this title,” said Capcom’s Rey Jimenez. “It’s going to play just like you remember.”
Hey, let’s have a sing-a-long.

Oh my gosh, I used to play this as a kid on our 486, I am both intrigued and terrified of how hard they could ruin it. Then again, the game was hard as hell for unfair reasons, maybe they could fix that? Also, here’s hoping for PC availability.
Why is everything ducktales so good for no adequate reason?
Looks fantastic, but 15 bucks for a remastered NES title? Damn.
The game is new, just an almost identical level design.
I think $10 is a more fitting price. But if it’s really good, I’ll give it a second look.
“We’re literally pouring our heart and soul into this title,”
If just about anyone else had said that, I’d assume that the guy just doesn’t know what “literally” means. But considering this is Capcom, also known as Japanese EA, it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s how they actually treat their developers.
It is possible to mean “literally” in a figurative sense.
Come on, that’s “Definition 2″ bullshit and you know it.
Wait what? Really?
How do they even do this? Wouldn’t they need to negotiate with Capcom who hold all the assets? Does this mean we will be getting the other DisneyxCapcom games? What the fuck?
I like the old sprites better…
We’re going to drag your sprites into the twenty-first century!
Duck Tales Rehashed
eh might be cool I suppose
No PC release? For shame. Guess I’ll just emulate the original.
Yes I will pay 15 dollars for a game that has been released about 25 years ago but with high def graphics. Am I the only one that is tired of remastered games now?
