More HD re-releases! Woo! Today Square Enix confirmed that the highly-anticipated remake of Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories and the cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days known as Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX will be getting a release in North America this fall.
I know some of you are probably getting tired of the whole “let’s scale old PlayStation 2 games up to 720p and re-release them for an easy $40″ thing, but this is actually something of a special case where an unusual amount of effort is being put into bringing these games to PS3. For starters, most of the primary character models are being updated using the ones from the recently-released Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance as the base. What’s more, content from the Japanese-exclusive Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix will be included, bringing all sorts of extra content to the west for the first time. Various minor tweaks to controls and the combat menu are also planned, as well as Trophy support. Because everybody loves them trophies.
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX releases in Japan on March 14, in North America this fall, and in Europe at a currently unspecified date.
