A Look Inside the Wii U Box

Well, the complete launch details around the Wii U are finally out. The system will be launching on November 18th, 2012 and will be available in both a $299.99 and a $349.99 model. Here’s a rundown of each:

That hard drive size is kind of disappointing on both models, as is the the fact that not even the pricier one comes with a second gamepad. The pricetag is surprisingly high for a Nintendo system, but that was inevitable with something like that fancy new touchscreen. Still, it’s by no means unaffordable for the typical gamer. Whether or not Nintendo manages to regain their relevance in the living room comes down to their ability to attract third party developers to make games for the system… and given the fact that so far the Wii U’s library seems to consist mostly of ports of late generation Xbox and PS3 games, I for one will probably wait and see on this one.

Umm Matt, are we looking at the same library?

    exclusive to Nintendo:
    Nintendo Land
    ZombiU
    Tank!Tank!Tank!
    Rabbids Land
    The Wonderful 101
    Game & Wario
    Lego City: Undercover
    Scribblenauts Unlimited
Bayonetta 2(Nintendo funded the game so it became exclusive to WiiU)
and the many more exclusives to come: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPjhY0cFOKw&feature=plcp

And many of the Multiplatform games for the WiiU has an exclusive function or content to it.

Really the only late ports that I can think of right now Is: Mass effect 3, Ninja Gaiden 3, Darksiders 2, Warriors Orochi 3 and Batman Arkham City.

If you’re not interested in the library right now, it’s okay, but don’t go and spread this Misinformation that the Wii U library will be riddled with late ports, That’s just a Lie…

    -The Theory

    • A lot of developers have said that the Wii U specs are underwhelming and that it doesn’t fit into their plans. A single launch title each does not guarantee long term third party support, and the truth is other than Ubisoft, most of the big name publishers don’t seem that interested in the Wii U as a primary platform. I actually do like Nintendo and I’d love for the Wii U to succeed, but I’m skeptical that it won’t just be treated like the Wii was this generation.

another misinformation(that came from eurogamer to be exact) this is the truth on the matter :
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcnsG11MRE8
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDd4qBJ3cag

And saying that Publishers or Developers may not have an interest making games for the WiiU is simply ridiculous. it’s like saying that they were not interested in making games for the Nintendo DS at the time, and the DS has a rich and large library of great games.

But What I will concede is that it may not have the same kind of hardware sales that the Wii had, since the casual market has already moved on in majority to tablets and smartphones. There will still be a lot of sales made by the end of next year, due in part because of the real Target demographic, the Gamers, buying the system and the games. From there on out it will surely gain a lot of momentum in terms of sales, since it’s the first console of the next generation to have come out…

      • imho, Activision’s announcement of Black Ops II seems to be a a sign that the Wii U is being taken a bit more seriously.

  2. Biased against nintendo much?

  3. yea naaaa over priced in Australia

  4. In Australia this is actually pretty cheap for a launch console. They’re selling the deluxe model at $430 here, compared with the PS2′s $750, the PS3′s $999 and the 360′s $650. These prices mentioned are of course all in Australian Dollars.
