Big Picture Brings Steam to the Living Room

No longer satisfied with dominating the desktop, Valve is moving Steam into console territory with an alternative, controller-based UI known as Big Picture. The trailer released today shows Big Picture in action, demonstrating how it has adapted Steam for the television. That wheel-based typing interface in particular looks kind of brilliant.

I suppose it’s only a matter of time before they start to offer TV and movie rentals over Steam, huh?

Ok. Now I need to figure out how to get what I do on my PC onto my TV.

    HDMI cables.

“And finally a web browser for the TV that doesn’t suck”

I was in the silent part of the library and they almost kicked me out. I can only hope. I can only hope.

  3. What a useless thing, people who had a PC connected to TV already got used to having it that way and won’t start using a controller, people who only played on consoles won’t suddenly move to PC because of this. This is only for a useless minority of faggots with controllers.

    • Nah, i have my PC connected to TV and always wanted an UI like that. I hope they add option to use that mode on a secondary screen, so i don’t have to always switch displays when i want to play games from a couch.

I use a TV for my PC too. Rather than buy I monitor I just plugged an HDMI cable into the video card and set up a mouse and keyboard. The regular UI has worked fine so far, but I am interested in giving it a try.
