On the Crapper: PSX Games incoming!

And here we are … GO!  The Vita is about to get more games in one fell swoop than it saw in the whole of April.  Actually the 9 confirmed games we’ll get on the 28th of August is almost as many as we had come out in April, May, and June combined.  There was a total of ten games to come out in those three months.

Let us forget for a moment that these games we’re going to see on the 28th are, in a few cases, about as old as my little brother.  Tomb Raider, for example, was out in 1996, but hey… at least we’ll have something to play.

The games Sony has confirmed are as follows (via Kotaku).

-Tomb Raider

-JetMoto

-Crash Bandicoot

-Resident Evil Director’s Cut

-Arc the Lad

-Cool Boarders 2

-Twisted Metal 2

-Wild Arms

And a game I’ve beaten multiple times and plan to play again.

-Final Fantasy VII

Why won’t we have the full PSone library available?  I’m not sure, but my guess is that these nine titles are a good mix that Sony has vetted umpteen times to ensure they won’t allow the savvy to crack the Vita.  I do believe that’s been the concern and why we’ve had to wait this long.  It was of course one of the first ways the PSP was turned into a pirate’s paradise.

Let’s hope we see some actual Vita games come out soon that are worth a purchase, because the ball has been dropped on that front thus far.

  1. Do you know if you can just download the game again or do you have to purchase the game again?

Hooray, I can’t wait to get a gutted version of a feature on my original PSP!

    :/

  3. Oh cool, games I played years ago and still currently own. That’s totally a reason to buy an entirely new device along with new digital copies of those games.
