After eleven solid years on a subscription payment model, quiet MMOFPS and military sim World War 2 Online: Battleground Europe has finally decided to make the move to F2P, with subscription (or ‘premium’ accounts) having access to better equipment. This change may give Cornered Rat Software the player base they need to improve their game – In the past, WW2O has suffered from a lack of players, and is a relatively unknown name for the most part, despite some interesting (if somewhat flawed) game designs.
The gameplay is strictly realistic, simulating naval, air and infantry combat on a 30,000 KM open-world map. Teamwork is a definite requirement, and the winning side is often the most organised. It focuses on the conflict in western Europe – The Allied faction gets French, British, and recently American troops, while the Germans get a faction all to themselves. There has been some talk of giving the Axis side Italians, however. If you’re interested in milsim games or you didn’t get into the Planetside 2 beta and have a craving for an MMOFPS, it might be worth giving this one a try with a group of friends.
Just make sure you know what key your parachute is bound to before you jump out of the plane.

How come I have never heard about this.
I’ve always thought this game looked pretty cool. Now I have no reason not to at least try it.
