Chances are you’ve heard the rumor that’s been going around about Final Fantasy Versus XIII being canceled. Well, despite how widespread the rumor’s become, it turns out the whole thing was probably bogus. Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada himself tweeted the other night regarding Verus, saying that not only was the game not canceled, but that he had in fact just exited “a regularly scheduled meeting for Versus.”
Apparently the game’s development is STILL ongoing, five years at this point after its original announcement. Versus hasn’t been shown publicly for about a year now, and the last bit of news we heard about it was that it was receiving a complete lighting overhaul that utilized Square Enix’s brand new Luminous Engine. With the critical flops that have been FFXIII and XIII-2, many fans have been holding Versus up as the one hope for redeeming the franchise. With the console generation drawing to a close, it’s looking more and likely that Versus will at least be ported to next gen systems if not moved there as the primary platforms.
So there you have it, Versus XIII isn’t dead, he’s only mostly dead.

Well this article is cool, but XIII-2 wasn’t a critical flop at all
Compared to the scores FF games used to get, oh yeah it was.
Love The Princess Bride reference.
