Battlefield 4 Confirmed, Beta Begins Fall 2013

Bored of Battlefield 3? Ready to get bored of the next one? An advertisement accidentally leaked over Origin the other day has confirmed that not only is Battlefield 4 coming, but that beta access will be available to anyone who buys the limited edition of Medal of Honor Warfighter. How fortunate that somebody out there was actually using Origin at the time in order to screenshot the leak.

Rather than try to deny the credibility of an advertisement displayed via their own service, EA quickly confirmed that yes, Battlefield 4 is happening. Beta access begins Fall of 2013, so it’s safe to say we’ll see the game itself released either at the end of next year or early 2014. I’m sure they plan to drastically switch up the gameplay in this new installment in order to justify starting work on a new game less than a year after the current one was released! I mean, the last of the currently planned expansions for Battlefield 3 will only just have been released by Fall of 2013. They don’t want to seem like they’re trying to copy Call of Duty’s business model, do they?

Based on this news, I’m going to ahead and confirm that Battlefield 5 beta access will come attached to the $80 edition of Medal of Honor Manshooter in 2015.

PS2 has me otherwise sold. 2000 players, massive vehicle combat, resource strategy game, day/night cycle and free to play? Who cares about BF4. Pains me that SOE just sucks at advertising.

$70 on a digital distributed generic shooter.
    Seventy bucks!

It seems that Steam has passed on savings to consumers of PC games, but EA missed the memo. They too are cutting brick and mortar stores out of the equation, but are reaping the savings themselves.

  4. lol 70 bucks…what a waste of money that will be.

Its like John Ricearoni took up a dare to see how poorly a company can do before it becomes an utter joke.

The seventy dollar price tag is ridiculous. If they seriously think they’re gonna get away with that shit, they’re in for a real rude awakening.

    • The $70 is for the limited edition, the standard is $60. Still too much for a DIGITAL copy, but at least we haven’t gotten to the point of a $70 standard.

To be honest I think they’ll be lucky to move Warfighter at 60 even. Everyone remembers the last Medal of Honor. It will do modest sales at best even riding on the Battlefield beta. The whole idea of having two class-based modern military shooters built on the same engine put out by the same publisher (that isn’t Activision) year after year seems sort of doomed to fail.

And what does that limited edition get you? How the FUCK can a digital release be “limited”? All I can find on the official site is that you get a fucking sniper rifle that’s in the game already (you just have to play MP for ~40 hours). Fucking great.
You know how much I paid for The Witcher Fucking 2 in a physical box with soundtracks/making-of DVDs/huge manual/game guide/coin from the game?
23 dollars. That’s how much the box cost in my country. And everywhere else it was like 39 dollars. How much crack would I have to smoke to convince myself buying MoH on Origin is anything besides lunacy?

Okay, wait for it. What if (wait for it here it comes), Battlefield 4 comes with the beta for Manshooter, then Manshooter with the beta for BF5? Then BF5 can come with the beta for MoH: Fudgepacker.
