We’re looking for talented contributors to help make gaming journalism better.
If you’re an aspiring writer, editor, video maker, audio guy, musician, artist, or web developer, we can help you get your voice out to thousands of people. Just shoot an email to email@example.com
In your email, please include samples of your past work (it doesn’t have to be games related). If you don’t have relevant past work, then make something and send it to us!
Please note: this is not a paid position. GYP is staffed entirely by volunteers working in our spare time. However, you will get access to all of our community resources – such as our editors and video recorders – and while contributing to GYP, you’re free to use your own personal YouTube channel and repost your content to your own personal blog\website. You also keep full ownership of anything you’ve written for GYP! This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to get their foot in the door of games journalism.
So please – shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Who We are Looking For
We are currently looking to fill the following specific roles, but you can apply for other roles beyond these as well:
Editorial Writers/Video Producers – This contributor writes articles or produces videos about any relevant video game topics.
Game Reviewers – This contributor can submit content in written or video format. We want to cover as many newly released games as possible.
Flashreel News Editor – This contributor searches the internet all week to find important stories in the video game industry and summarizes them for the other members of the team.
Flashreel Script Writer – This contributor writes the script for the Flashreel based on sources from the News Editor. The applicant should have experience in writing scripts for video.
Flashreel Video Editor – This contributor puts together the video each week, from a combination of stock video assets, video game footage, and narration. Note: Currently we prefer applicants to be experienced in Adobe Premiere Pro, but other professional-level video editors can be used as well.
PR/HR Aide – This contributor helps senior staff manage the website and functions as the site’s liaison for social media and community outreach. Experience preferred but not necessary.
If you think you can help in some way, get in touch with us! Send an email to email@example.com with a sample of your previous work and a short but succinct cover letter.
Submitting Guest Editorials
Aside from directly applying to Gather Your Party, we are trying out a guest editorial system. If you’ve written something you’d like to see published on the site, submit it using the form below. By submitting a guest editorial, you understand and agree to allow our editors to alter the content of your submission to correct for typos, punctuation, and grammar issues. If your submission does not meet our content guidelines, it will not be published.
If your post is published and well-recieved, please consider applying to be a proper GYP contributor!
Please note: Even when you’re semi-anonymous, you still have to be accountable for the factual validity of your contribution. If you can’t provide sources to any claims you make, we can’t publish your content.
