I am a contributor of news, reviews and opinion pieces for GYP.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Portuguese, which I currently have no plans to make use of.

JRPG’s and SRPG’s are my games of choice, but I’m not impartial to the dreaded “narrative-driven” games, also known as “not a game” games. Predominantly a console player, I grew up as a Nintendo fanboy, until they started releasing underwhelming hardware and lost a sizable amount of third party support, and have since jumped ship to Sony.

Hi Richie, just curious about the fact you say you have a degree in Spanish and Portuguese but have no plans to use it. What’s the reason for that? It seems a shame to have a degree, especially in languages, and not want to put that to use somehow. Journalist for a Spanish/Portuguese-language gaming publication perhaps?

To be completely honest with you Sam, it’s simply because I don’t consider myself fluent enough in either language to be able to get a job that requires them. I pin the blame on my degree course rather than my own inactivity for that.

The good thing is that there are jobs that only require candidates to have a degree, even if it’s a totally unrelated one.

    Awesome post.
