Ahead of its scheduled reveal on May 4, Activision’s latest entry in their Call of Duty franchise was unveiled after an announcement trailer was leaked last night by Destructoid.

The new game, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, shows a futuristic setting filled with exosuits, hoverbikes, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Kevin Spacey.

Could "Advanced Warfare" really be season 3 of "House of Cards"?

Could “Advanced Warfare” really be season 3 of “House of Cards”?

Yes, that Kevin Spacey.

Spacey will be playing the role of the  lead villain, a CEO of a private military company who attempts to seize control of the United States. Remember Jon Voight’s character in season 7 of 24? He’ll probably be like that guy.

Activision officially released the trailer upon the leak earlier today. On the official Call of Duty twitter account, the trailer was accompanied by the message “This was scheduled for Sunday but it just leaked, so why wait? Here’s the first look at @CallofDuty: #AdvancedWarfare”

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is being developed by Sledgehammer Games and will be released on November 11, 2014.

I have to wonder if the trailer was *actually* leaked, or we’re experiencing the new age of the exclusive interview. Based on what we already know about the gaming journalism industry, this doesn’t seem like that much of a leap. Rather, it’s just a shady version of “here is reveal trailer for your site, give 9.5/10 please”

    • Anon. says:

This obviously wasn’t a leak leak. This happens all the time in video games and movies. “The trailer has leaked!” No you idiots, it was just released.

Well, gameinformer magazine was supposed to reveal it as their cover story on sunday.

Perhaps they just wanted to be the first.

Call of Duty: Advance War for your brand new Game Boy Advance handheld entertainment system. Now with rain and wet dog physics!

  3. Delio Pera says:

What makes me laugh is that people will bash Titanfall and praise CoD. How is it much different at this point?
Titanfall is a blast, by the way.

    • InZ0mbiac says:

I bet it’ll be a blast when the team will actually be given a real budget and production time for the sequel

  4. GSG says:

I think Call of Duty games are fun.
I’ll keep an open mind on this one.

  5. I’m actually very confident that the story in this installment will be far better than Elysium’s.

is gonna come out for the Game Boy Advance?…

Ah, and the cycle continues – paying more money to get shinier visuals and more popular celebrities so they can get more of the sales needed to cover the production value of shinier visuals and popular celebrities.

With the money saved from Kevin Spacey’s performance, they probably could have given a small dev team somewhere in the bowels of the company the funding they needed to make an original (albeit financially risky) title. What a bullshit industry.

  9. John says:

“Advanced Warfare” Is that a fucking joke? Is it possible to find a more generic and less inspired name than that?

  10. John says:

The funniest thing is I was reading this announcement this morning while watching an interview with Kevin Spacey. He was proud of himself for preserving his artistic integrity after winning a couple of Oscars and not taking “paycheck” roles. Guess his outlook has changed since then LOL

  11. Mark Ceb says:

Spacey is a good actor but you know what he isn’t? Gameplay. Not even he’s going to get me to buy a Cowadooty.

  12. Johnny Cockaroach says:

Wouldn’t it be funny if they used this for product placement in House of Cards Season 3?

  13. Aeiou says:

I thought the title was a joke at first.

I really thought they were just going to make MW4 in name and not just in spirit.
