Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia Coming to the West

Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia Coming to the West

Oooooh boy, time to incite even more arguments about The Legend of Zelda series and its lore. Did the ending of Ocarina of Time really cause a split timeline? Why is Link’s hair pink in Link to the Past? Is Rauru also that owl guy? And how do the Philips CD-i games factor into all of this? All these answers and more may or may not be found in Nintendo’s official Zelda universe history handbook, the Hyrule Historia.

Released late last year in Japan, The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia is a 274-page hardcover book detailing the world of the Legend of Zelda games and how they all fit together, with tons of concept art and information on the games’ development thrown in as an added treat, as well as an introduction by Shigeru Miyamoto himself and a 32-page Skyward Sword manga by Akira Himekawa.

Hyrule Historia is being localized by Dark Horse Comics and is planned for a January 29th, 2013 release. It’ll run you for $34.99, significantly less than the cost of importing the Japanese version. This should make for one hell of a collector’s item/coffee table book.

Here’s the cover art, an illustration of just about every incarnation of Link ever. Huh… where’s the CD-i Link?
